In celebration of Senegalese Independence, Pape MBaye & Chosani Afrique will be joined by Sibo Bangoura & Keyim Ba at the popular Sydney live music venue NOTES in Newtown. An explosion of high energy grooves, powerful drumming and energetic dancing brings a taste of West Africa to Newtown. Many of Australia's best West African musicians will take audiences on an exceptional and exciting musical journey into West Africa.
Embracing percussive as well as melodic pieces, ‘Keyim Ba’ offers a show of powerful African drumming and high energy dance while capturing the alluring sounds of West African melodies accompanied by the Kora (West African harp), African guitar and the Balafon. With an exceptional mix of Guinean, Senegalese, Malian & Australian musicians, Keyim Ba presents African traditional music in a modern Australian setting.

Hailing from the French province of Réunion in the Indian Ocean, Nathalie Natiembé is reinventing maloya, the island's traditional, percussion-based music. An accomplished poet, lyricist and improviser, she thrives on incorporating the energy of other music such as jazz and rock into her phenomenal live shows.
